My mother, Blanche Gelber, has crafted a couple of intricate and beautiful quilts through the years. The most ambitious was a bicentennial 50-states quilt completed when I was too teen-aged to be concerned with quilts. She's working on a new one now, a triptych constructed of state birds in a couple of environments. This is the tree panel, just begun and growing, pinned in place and sometimes stitched but not yet quilted. |
